Dr. Mark A. Hendrix graduated from Morgan County High School, Hartselle, in 1974, and attended the University of Alabama on an Army Scholarship.  Majoring in Math, he applied and was accepted to the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.  He graduated there in 1982, being tapped into OKU, the National Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Hendrix continued his dental education in a General Practice Residency at Fort Benning, Georgia.  There he received specialty training in all phases of General Dentistry, along with anesthesia and sedation.  He served at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, home of the Army War College, and with the 1st Infantry Division (Forward) at Cooke Barracks, Goeppingen, (West) Germany.  He returned to Hartselle in April 1988, and opened his private practice in June.  He was activated for Desert Storm in 1991 with the 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), a National Guard unit.  He finished his military career in 2005, at the rank of Colonel. 

Dr. Hendrix is married to Tonya Bragg Hendrix, of Decatur.  They reside in Hartselle and have 3 children.  Maggie graduated from the University of Alabama, and is attending the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, expecting to graduate in 2010.  Lizzie also attended the University of Alabama, and is now in the McWhorter School of Pharmacy, at Samford University in Birmingham, where she will graduate in 2011.  Mac attends Hartselle High School, and is involved with baseball and football.

Dr. Hendrix is very involved with the youth in Hartselle, coaching a Dixie League baseball team for 7 years and a City League basketball team for 2 years.  He follows Hartselle High School sports, photographing the action on the sidelines.  He is a member of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle, where he sings in the choir.  He is a member of Hartselle's Rotary Club starting in 1989, being selected as a Paul Harris Fellow in 2006.  He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Alabama Dental Association.
